Late businessman Wicknell Chivayo ‘s ex wife Sonja Madzikanda, has been appointed co-executrix of his estate.
Madzikanda will jointly administer the estate alongside Chivayo’s sister, Esther Chivayo, following Wicknell’s death in a helicopter crash in Marondera on September 30, 2026.
Chivayo died alongside his wife, Lucy Muteke, and three other people in the accident.
According to reports, the two co-executrices are expected to oversee the identification and valuation of the deceased businessman’s assets, settlement of outstanding debts and eventual distribution of the estate.
The appointment comes against the backdrop of a US$25 million matrimonial claim that Madzikanda had pending before the Supreme Court at the time of Chivayo’s death.
Her appointment therefore introduces a significant development in the administration of Chivayo’s estate, which is believed to be worth millions of dollars.
The joint appointment means Madzikanda and Esther will be responsible for overseeing the estate administration process in accordance with the applicable legal requirements.
