The Sports and Recreation Commission (SRC) has secured a US$1.05 million partnership with TN Holdings Group to support the Zimbabwe National Youth and Paralympic Games over the next five years, in a boost officials say will transform junior sports development nationwide.
SRC Director General Allen Mavunga signed the agreement on behalf of the Commission, describing the investment as a major shot in the arm for young athletes across the country whose lives could be changed by the support.
The five-year deal comes ahead of the Games’ return to the sporting calendar for the first time since 2019. This year’s edition will be held in Marondera, Mashonaland East, from 12 to 26 August, under the theme “Breaking the Silence Through Sport.”
The funding is expected to strengthen preparations and resources for young athletes, including those competing in the Paralympic category, as the Commission looks to rebuild momentum for youth sport after a five-year hiatus.
